The Scrappy Stuff I'm Drooling Over!

So, with all the CHA sneak peeks, there have been a few items that I really, really love. Lots of stuff that I like and will most likely get but, a few that I just love!!!Making Memories new journaling book. It's a black and white version of the Noteworthy one and it is soooo yummy!!!

I also really like the Buttons and Blooms from Making Memories. Great idea to market them together!!

One of Prima's (yes, Prima's) new paper lines. It's called Dude and it's great! It's very Scenic Route with great color combinations for my little guy.

Speaking of Scenic Route (great segueway, huh!) I really like the new line they just revealed, Grafton. I can't get a picture of all of it, but here is a link to see the whole line. My favs are the camo, the surfboard and the striped papers and I really love the cool new kraft designs they've got going on. They also have some great new chipboard and rubons that I just can't wait to get my hands on!
And, last but not least, I really want to get some of Cosmo Cricut's new blackboard albums. They are just regular chipboard but...they are black!!!! Very cool!

Which new releases are you looking forward to???

Hair Cut Number Two!

Well, I put it off for a while, but not as long as I put off his first hair cut. :D

Here he is just prior to the hair cut.

And here he is after!

Andrew loves Mickey's new haircut. I love it too, but he looks so different, so grown up! Now don't get my wrong, I'm not trying to keep him a baby forever, I just want to savor every minute of this. I'm loving being a mom and he is a really great little guy.
Sigh.
How long until August????

My All-Time Favorite Kid Movies

I'm not sure what brought this to mind but, here is a list of some of my favorite kid movies...in no particular order. Oh, and they are from when I was a kid. :D

1) The Phantom Tollbooth-I love this movie. It's half real life and half animated and completely cool! It's got weirdness and math!!!

2) The Dark Crystal-Great movie, I saw it in the drive-in as a kid...kind of scary though! My favorite line is when Jen says to Kira that he doesn't have wings and she tells him, "Of course not, you're a boy!" :D

3) Charlie Brown Christmas. Just love this movie. :D

4) Labyrnth-Another fun one that's a little scary with great music!! Thank you David Bowie! The creepiest part is when the orange creatures play catch...with their own heads!!!!

5) The Last Unicorn-I loved this one before I saw it. A movie about a unicorn?!?! I'm there!!

6) The Never-Ending Story-Let's see...a movie about a book worm who becomes part of the story...how could I not love that!!! I spent more time reading than playing with other kids as a child so this one really hit home!! :D

7) The Goonies~A cool movie and it was filmed in Oregon!! :D

8) Watership Down~Loved the movie, loved the book. This one is another slightly scary one though. I think I was a little older when I saw it and my dad was a hunter so it didn't really scare me.

9) The Secret of Nimh~Loved, loved, loved this movie!!! I loved mice and even at a young age I was all about a female character kicking a male characters tushy!! Oh, yeah! Girl power!

10) Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory~a movie about candy and spoiled kids that get what they deserve. Sigh!

I'm sure I missed some good ones.

What were your favorite kid movies?

Mickey at 15 months

Mickey turned 15 months old on Monday and we celebrated by taking him to the doctor and getting him poked in the leg twice.

Who wants me to throw their next birthday party!!! :D

The we in the first sentence is my mom and me. I innocently called mom and asked her if she wanted to accompany us to the doctor and then to Costco. She innocently said sure. Neither of realized that with two nurses calling in sick and one intern trailing our doctor that the simple well-child check-up would last for two hours!!!! He was weighed and measured, poked and proded and found out how to open doors. It was sooo funny! Little Man in nothing but his diaper, booking it down the hall!!! Anyway, sorry mom, I didn't know that it would take so long and thanks for being there to help me distract him!

And, without further ado...

...here are Little Man's stats at 15 months!!!

Height-31 3/4" (75th percentile) Not a suprise, Andrew is 6'3" and I'm a little over 5'9". We are not a short family.

Weight-24 1/2 lbs (50th percentile) He's finally starting to put on some weight. He was only in the 25th percentile for weight last time!!

Names-Mitchell Jack, Mickey, Little Man, Booger, Booger-butt, Boogie, Boogs. I see therapy bills in our future!

Words-dog, dada, kee-kah (kitty cat), oof (woof), choo-choo. Note the absence of mama from his vocab. This may have something to do with the aforementioned birthday shots! Dog was his first word and his Great-Grandma is the one who taught him woof!!!

Signs-drink, eat, luvs, so big, and sticks out his tongue on command (yep, Andrew & I are soooo mature!)

Locomotion-he's walking almost all the time now. If he biffs it, he lands on his hands and either gets back up or just crawls for a little while. He's learned to take the cushions off the couch so he can crawl up there. He's quite the little home destroyer decorator! He tries to climb up on everything. Loves stairs!!

Relationships-loves his family. Loves them! If we leave him with his relatives for the evening, he doesn't even fuss when we are leaving. He will fuss when I leave him with just dad. (Sorry Andrew but I've got to have something since he doesn't say mama!!)

Attitude-seriously a good kid. Mellow, happy, easygoing. Yep, I'm really, really lucky!!! He can handle a dirty diaper or being tired or being hungry but not two of those at once. If he is unhappy and crying he is easily distracted and calmed. He even gets over his little accidents (smushed finger, cat scratch, shots) really quickly. I've had people say to me "What a good kid." and they say that on his fussy day!!! LOL!!!

Sleep habits-Warning!!! If your kid doesn't sleep well, please don't read this or you will hate me! Mickey goes to bed at 8:00 pm and wakes up at 6:00 am for a sippy of milk and then goes back to sleep until 8:00 am. He has two naps, one at about 10:30 and another at about 3:00. The last few nights he has skipped waking at 6 am and is sleeping for 12 hours straight. Remember, you can't hate me because I warned you not to read this!!!

Eating habits-He has a sippy of milk at 6am, breakfast at 8am, sippy of milk at 10:30, lunch at noon, sippy of milk at 2:30pm, snack at 4pm, dinner at 6pm and sippy of milk (warmed) at 7:30. He gets water or water/juice mix with his meals and for a snack it's usually a cheese stick which he loves. He is a huge fan of bananas, likes to eat what we eat, and really isn't that fond of cooked green beans. He'll try everything and (if we say "mmmmmm" while he's eating it) he normally likes it.

Negatives-ummm, he's not potty-trained, he won't pick up his toys and he is soooooo much cuter than me!!!

On a serious note, I think God gave us such a great, easy-going kid to make up for taking our first child at 11 weeks into the pregnancy. We appreciate Mickey so much more than we would have, had that not happened to us. We love him just as much as we would have but, we appreciate him more.

Photo of the week.

Yep, I'm an under-achiever. And, I'm good with it!! LOL! One photo a day for a year or one layout a day for a month is just too much for me. :D But, a photo a week is just my speed! LOL!

This is little man sitting in his high chair and lovin' life!! Goldfish cracker crumbs and all!

Step away from the lip balm!

If this doesn't keep Andrew from swiping my lip balm, nothing will!!! LOL!

Now, I have no problem sharing but, after Andrew has had a lip balm in his pocket for a day, it gets soooooo gross! Not just the outside but the inside as well! Blech!!! Ah, well, 'tis the life of the pump guy! (And, the pump guy's wife!)

Yesterday was a Great Day!

And, here is why!

~Granny got her Coach wallet that she had been looking all over for. And, she got it for less than she paid the last time she bought a Coach wallet, years ago!! This was very important for my Norwegian grandmother who grew up in the Depression era. Go, Granny!!! :D

~I got my chocolate brown Coach purse. Sigh, it is lovely. I also got a little wallet to go with it and a cute little pouch as well. I really will get a lot of use out of this purse because I wear tons of brown. Funny story about this. I was talking to my salesclerk at Coach (yes, I have my own) and we were discussing this purse. She said, "Well, you do wear a lot of brown." Yep, not only does this Coach store employee recognize me when I come in, she knows what I wear. It's pretty funny!!! (She has promised to pretend she has no idea who I am if I come in with Andrew!! LOL!!!)

~Mom got a cute little organizer pouch for her purse. We did have to weigh three options to decide. And, I mean weigh!!! Mom likes her purses lightweight and for anything to make the cut to be added to her purse, it must be lightweight!!! :D

~Mickey, even without napping until after 6:00, was really well behaved. And, he ate half a grilled cheese sandwich (his first) like a sandwich!!! He didn't pull it apart or anything. He is really growing up!

~We went to a scrapbook store called Lighthouse Scrapbooks, that will be closing in a few weeks and they had everything 50% off! I got a 50 pack of Bazzill white for a great deal! (And, some other choice goodies as well!) Also, the owner and I were talking and she will be starting up (well, re-starting) an online kit club. I told her that I belonged to one kit club and was on the design team for another and I gave her my e-mail address. Well, she e-mailed me last night and I sent her links to here, Fresh Pages and my gallery and she's considering me for her design team!!! So cool! I hesitated a little before telling her about being on a design team (didn't want to sound braggy or like I was suggesting anything) but, I've decided that if you want things in life, you have to put that intention out there. Even if she doesn't pick me to be on her DT, I'm still proud of myself. :D

~I got some great clothing deals for Mickey for the next few years. At The Children's Place, I got him a bunch of t-shirts for $.99 each, some warm hats for next year for $2.50 and a super cute pair of camo shorts!! I also found some $1.00 socks and some $2.00 shirts. But, the Old Navy Outlet was where I really scored! Socks for $.25, shoes for $3.50, shirts for $1.75, jeans for $3.50, and sweatshirts for $3.99! All of their clearance was 50% off the lowest marked price! I bought him stuff for up to 4T at both stores.

~But, the best thing about yesterday was that Granny, Mom, Mickey and I all got to enjoy each other's company from 9:00am to 7:30pm. Driving, shopping, and eating were all made better by the great conversations we had. And, Mickey got some great one-on-one time with his great-grandma. It was an all around great day!!!

Scrappy-ness or is it Scrappiness???

Either way, I just realized that I haven't posted anything scrappy in a while. And, then I realized that I haven't done much scrappy for a while except my design team stuff for Fresh Pages. So, here it is! My first design team work! I hope you like it!

I made this little book out of a sheet of round, scalloped Bazzill. The letters are by Heidi Swapp and the stamp is the Autumn Leaves one that I'm RAKing in my previous post! :D
Andrew and Mickey
Grandma Judy(my mom) and Mickey Uncle Cody Mitchell Manley (my brother) and Mitchell Jack Hettwer
Delbert Mitchell Manley, aka Mick, aka my dad, aka Grandpa Mickey!
Wowza! I need to iron my tablecloth!!! LOL! :D
This is a layout from Mickey's first birthday. The cardstock is Bazzill and the patterned paper is Chatterbox. I have the two vertical pictures tucked into pockets so I can put my journaling on the backs.

This layout uses some more Chatterbox patterned paper and the leftover packaging from the Heidi Swapp letters! Reduce, reuse, recycle, baby!!! :D

This card also uses the RAK stamp and a Heidi Swapp letter. I had been dying to use rick-rack to make a scalloped border and I love how it turned out!! :D

Thanks for looking, guys!!!

Now I have to go start on something else!!! :D

Randomness...and a RAK!

~I bought some actions yesterday at http://www.ezactions.com/ and I've been having a lot of fun playing with them. :D So, to kill two birds with one stone, here is my photo for the week using the Chocolate action. Fun stuff! I bought Chocolate, Color Blast and Vignette. Gonna have to get some more next month! :D

~I finished my January DT work for Fresh Pages yesterday. I love what I made and I got two LO's done!!! This design team stuff rocks! The kit I got for January was this one. http://www.freshpagesco.com/kits.php?k=30 (I gotta learn how to make cool links like everyone else!) I love the colors! Oh, and since I already have the Autumn Leaves "love" stamp, I'm going to give it away!!! So, just comment below to enter and I'll draw a name on Wednesday. :D

~Tonight was the first night that Andrew, Mickey and I have eaten dinner at our own table together!!! Yep, first time! There are a couple of reasons for this. A big one is that my scrapping stuff used to be in the dining room area and I'd scrap on the dining table. Another is that Mickey didn't have a high chair. He had a little booster chair that straps onto a regular chair but it didn't work really well with our dining chairs. But, the main reason is that Andrew and I like to eat dinner and watch TV at the same time. Yep, not too mature. So, I moved my stuff into the office over a month ago so that we could eat there. But we still couldn't use the table because we had to set the Christmas tree up on it as it's the only way to keep it out of the baby's reach. So, now, the Christmas stuff is all put away, Mickey got a new high chair for Christmas, and we ate at the dining table!!! We are growing up!!! LOL!

~I read about 45 blogs a day. It only takes me about 15-30 minutes to do because I read super fast and some of them aren't updated daily. I think my fav is Sharon Tormanen (Tormy) because she blogs multiple times a day!!! :D

~I need to go to Goodwill and the coast. Mickey needs some more clothes (mainly some neutral tops) and Goodwill and the Lincoln City Outlet mall should be the ticket. I think last year I went to the Lincoln City outlet mall and got some screamin' good deals for little man. And, I can check to see if the Coach store has a really cute chocolate brown purse with nickel accents. I have too many Coach purses but, I wear a lot of chocolate brown and I don't have one that goes.

~I finally own a women's coat with sleeves that are long enough for me!!! Actually, they are a little too long but, it's such a novelty for me that I'm soooooo not gonna fix it. :D I bought it at http://www.longelegantlegs.com/. It's a chocolate brown corduroy coat and I love it! So, if you're vertically blessed (Hi, Joscie!) check them out! :D

Fifty-two Photos and Fifty-two Layouts...

...sounds like a lot. But, it's really not. Just one a week. One. Every week. Not too hard for us, is it? I mean seriously, most of us can take 200 photos at our nephews baseball game. Or, maybe that's just me. :D

I love the idea going around right now about LOAD (Layout a day) or a 365 project (where you take a photo a day and post it somewhere) but, those just aren't going to work for me. I'm one of those all or nothing girls and I know that if I miss a day, instead of just accepting it and moving on I'll quit. (Hmmm, this could also be why I suck at dieting! Ha!) Anyway, I think that one photo and layout a week is a lot more my speed. So, if you're like me, join in and take a photo a week, scrap it and post it on your blog! Or, if you don't have a blog, you can post a link to it here in the comments for that week!

If you wanna join in, comment here with your name and blog and I'll create a list of us over to the right. I'll get some monthly challenges going and other fun goodies, too. Oh, and I'm open to suggestions if any of you have any!!!

We can do it!!! Fifty-two photos and fifty-two layouts!!! :D

Resolutions!!

I've got just one resolution for 2008...get published!!! Now, this isn't really my only resolution for the year, it's just the only one for the whole year. All the rest are monthly ones. And, I don't have one for each month yet, but I'm working on it.

January-get new scrap room looking good!
February-weigh 160 lbs
March-
April-weigh 155 lbs
May-buy a new house!!!
June-weigh 150 lbs (then I can have at least one month at my normal weight before August's goal is accomplished! LOL!)
July-
August-Get pregnant!
September-
October-
November-
December-wrap Christmas presents as I buy them, no more waiting until the last minute.

Well, that's it for now. I think I'll scrap a page with these goals. Or, I saw this on another blog, someone altered a clipboard with their goals and put it on the wall. Now, that's commitment! I think I will do something like that, but with the ability to move the goals around, just in case! ;)

Happy goal setting!!! :D
